Andy’s Pontoon Saloon Announced

as VCEDC 2022 Business of the Year!

Eagle River, WI., December 12, 2025…. The Vilas County Economic Development Corporation (VCEDC) is pleased to announce Andy’s Pontoon Saloon has been selected as its 2025 Business of the Year.  The announcement was made at the VCEDC Annual Meeting on Friday, December 12th.  

In recognizing Andy’s Pontoon Saloon as Business of the Year, the Vilas County Economic Development Corporation celebrates not only a thriving business but also the vision of an entrepreneur, Andy Lichtfuss, who dared to think outside the box. 

What began as an innovative idea in Eagle River has grown into a true anchor on Main Street — a magnet business that draws thousands of residents and visitors each year with engaging events, hospitality, memorable experiences, and a spirit that embodies Vilas County entrepreneurship. Building on past honors such as “Wisconsin’s best new downtown business” Andy’s Pontoon Saloon continues to set the standard for creativity, hospitality, and economic impact.

"Andy’s Pontoon Saloon is proof that bold ideas can transform a community,” said Jim Tuckwell, VCEDC Board Chair. “Andy took an out-of-the-box concept and turned it into a destination that not only entertains but also strengthens our local economy. By drawing thousands of visitors annually and energizing Eagle River’s Main Street with engaging events and hospitality, Andy’s has become an engine of growth for Eagle River and beyond. His entrepreneurial drive, innovation, and commitment to community make him a model for the kind of entrepreneurship we honor with this award."

Lichtfuss expressed his gratitude for the Business of the Year Award recognition: 

“Being named Vilas County EDC's Business of the Year in our second season is an unbelievable honor. It reflects the passion and heart that my incredible staff pours into what we do every day. I’m grateful to the VCEDC and to our community for the support and enthusiasm they continue to show us. This award motivates us to keep raising the bar and to deliver an experience that makes the residents and visitors of Eagle River and Vilas County proud.”
